DELTA MKS - Top coat

A Top Coat, which can be optionally applied on a Base Coat, improves corrosion resistance properties. The treated components can thus gain certain multifunctional properties, such as a set coefficient of friction or resistance to chemicals. Top Coats are provided in several different colours. After applying the Top Coat comes the curing of the coat. The curing is done in conveyor belt ovens, at temperatures that depend on the kind of the coat applied, ranging between 180 – 250 °C.

The application of the Top Coat is done using the Dip-Spin method (dipping of bulk components which is followed by spinning in a coating drum) or by manual spraying.

Delta Seal

The Top Coat DELTA-SEAL is an organic microlayer system used especially for steel substrates treated by the DELTA-TONE coat, for aluminium, and stainless steel.

The Top Coat DELTA-SEAL can be applied to colour-code surfaces, it decreases and stabilizes the coefficient of friction, and it significantly improves the results of testing in salt spray. Technologically, DELTA-SEAL provides contact corrosion protection and inhibits the development of white rust.

The basic colours that are provided are silver and black, and, in special cases, the following colours are also available: red, light blue, dark blue, green, light grey, ochre brown, and nut brown.

The DELTA-SEAL GZ type, which contains the integrated dry lubricant PTFE, fulfils requirements for a constant coefficient of friction. This system is used mainly for coating threaded components. DELTA-SEAL GZ is provided in silver and black colours.

Delta Protekt VH 300

DELTA-PROTEKT VH 300 is a lithium-silicon-oxide polymer coat. After curing, when applied on substrates treated by DELTA-PROTEKT KL 100 or DELTA-TONE 9000, this coat forms a transparent layer. Already at a 2 – 4 micrometre thickness, this layer creates a barrier effect that significantly reduces the corrosion impact of humidity, oxygen, and other corrosion agents on steel components protected by this kind of treatment. With the total combined coat thickness of 12 micrometres, resistance in salt spray (DIN 50021) increases to more than 1 000 hours, which is much longer than when using the combination DELTA-TONE – DELTA-SEAL. The mechanical properties of the coat are also improved, especially its hardness.

Delta Protekt VH 301 GZ and VH 302 GZ

In contrast to DELTA-PROTEKT VH 300, DELTA-PROTEKT VH 3003 GZ and VH 302 GZ contain a lubricating agent which ensures low and regulated coefficients of friction after application. These coats are especially suitable for threaded components where they are used in combination with PROTEKT KL 100. Another advantage is the lower required thickness of these coats when compared to the earlier types of coats. For spatial reasons, this improves the possibilities of application on components with smaller diameters of threads and with highly precise threads.

These coats are also more environmentally friendly because they are water-soluble. Further, they can be cured at temperatures starting at 80 °C. Their barrier performance remains high even at higher temperatures. For example, when exposed to the temperature of 200 °C for a long period, their barrier performance increases due to further strengthening of the coat. This makes it possible to use these coats in motors and around the brakes of automobiles where there is major thermal stress.
